
Jamie Schellenberg joined SwimMAC in June2024 as the Lead Coach for the Shark 2 group at the North HFFA/Davidson site.Working with swimmers ages 13–14, she focuses on developing the essentialskills needed for both immediate success and progression to senior-levelswimming. Her coaching emphasizes race strategy, strong practice habits, andtechnical skill development, all aimed at building a solid and lastingfoundation.
A lifelong athlete, Jamie has an extensivebackground in competitive swimming and triathlon, including representing TeamUSA at the World Triathlon Championships in New Zealand. She holds a Bachelor’sdegree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Counseling. In addition,she is a Certified Level 4 Coach through the American Swimming CoachesAssociation, a Certified Dryland Coach, and a licensed psychotherapistspecializing in youth.
Jamie’s unique combination of coaching andmental health expertise allows her to integrate mental strength training andlife skills into her programs. Prior to joining SwimMAC, she coached Age Group,Senior, Masters and Triathletes in the Bay Area. Jamie also worked as a mentalperformance coach for teens, helping young athletes build confidence,resilience, and self-belief.
She is deeply committed to fostering apositive, supportive team environment rooted in respect, kindness, and personalgrowth. As a mother of three—one of whom swim for SwimMAC—Jamie brings avaluable parent perspective to her coaching, enhancing her ability to connectwith both athletes and families. Her patience, empathy, and leadership make hera strong and motivating presence on the pool deck.
In her coaching philosophy, Jamieemphasizes discipline, accountability, and the joy that comes from hard work.She encourages her athletes to support one another while striving forcontinuous improvement. She is currently expanding SwimMAC’s dryland programmingand incorporating mental skills training across all age groups. Looking ahead,she is excited to help develop an open water program, combining her passion forendurance sports with her coaching expertise.
For Jamie, SwimMAC represents the lifelongbenefits of sport and the powerful role swimming plays in characterdevelopment. Her goal is to help athletes grow into confident, resilientindividuals who value teamwork and embrace the process of improvement. Herfavorite quote, “To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, abackbone, and a funny bone,” reflects her belief in resilience, ambition, andjoy.
Originally from Northern California and Hawaii,Jamie’s favorite travel destination is Iceland. She is passionate aboutbuilding a strong team culture and is excited to continue creating anenvironment that develops not only successful swimmers, but well-roundedindividuals.
