Richard Quick Visits SwimMAC

Richard Quick was on deck today (3/11/09) at MCAC working with Mark Gangloff and Cullen Jones. Physically he is showing signs of the illness, but mentally he is still sharp. Richard spent practice sitting and watching quietly, he has a true master/yogi presence to him. He commented both to Mark and Cullen that they were not sacrificing efficiency for speed, a real compliment both of them appreciated.

During Richard's talk with Cullen he focused on values in swimming. He said that the moment you dive in the pool for warm-up, and do just one 25, particularly when you have not been given specific instructions, that is the moment in which you display what you value or do not value in swimming. It's during those moments, when no one is forcing you to do things right, that your values are exposed.

We hope as a staff to continue to develop swimmers who value technique and details most of all. Richard Quick continues to inspire.
