Congratulations 2009 Senior Class!!
This past weekend, the Senior Class of 2009 had their annual awards ceremony on the Charlotte Latin campus. The ceremony is to give the seniors an opportunity to celebrate the years of commitment to the SwimMAC program before they all enter into the new phase of the life this fall.
Head Coach David Marsh started off the day with some great reminders to the seniors about their impact on the program, the impact they are soon to have on the program they are heading to and how being part of the swimming community is going to help them in their future far beyond what they can see now. Larry Lee followed up with a blessing and everyone enjoyed a wonderful meal.
The actual awards presentation followed with the coaches giving reflections to the seniors and handing out specific awards. Coach Patty presented the coveted Vepsanen Award that was earned by Michelle Palacio and Mack Montgomery. Coaches Awards were earned by Kellie Darmody, Jordan Berry, Ellen Velte, Forrest Kasler, and Gina Glenn. Five year pins were earned by Albert Chang, Charlie Hepper, Michelle Palacio; Ten year pins were earned by Kristin Ates, Brooks Corcoran, Amber Leiker, Ellen Velte, Ashley Wagoner, Ben Correll and Taylor Williams.
After the awards the athletes read their always entertaining swimmers poem about their teammates and coaches. The very end culminated with what everyone waits to see- the Senior Video! The Senior Video is filled with photos and video of each individual athlete and team moments from their life- both swimming and outside the pool. The video is very uplifting and insightful as to each of these athletes' experiences along the way.
Huge thank you go to Laura Glanton, Karen Darmody, Ann Santoli, Lori Ates and Cheryl Wagoner for putting this together. Wonderful job!!
Congratulations Seniors!! You have made a very positive impact on SwimMAC, both now and on its future.
